Biblical Meanings Of Waking Up At 6 AM:
It is about the sacred hour
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul.” — Psalm 23:1-3
There is extra special about waking up at 6 AM early morning. But to me, it is a holy time when I am most close to God.
The world is quiet, making it seem like an ideal time to be one with God.
It feels like a sacred time, an hour of the day consecrated to my spirit and relationship with God.
Dawn, in the scriptures, typically speaks of God’s renewed compassions and His covenant with us.
God always tries to center my perspective when I struggle with finding consolation.
Lamentations 3:22-23 tells me, “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies that fail not they are new every morning; great is thy faithfulness.”
God’s new mercies every morning which is a chance for the realignment with God’s will I get when my alarm goes off at 6 AM.
Dawn is a more precious well of solitude and calm that would be hard to find.
Because it is in these moments that I can hear the whisper of God.
For centuries, spiritual leaders have shared the insight that early in the morning is a time for prayer.
Without all of life’s noise, my heart quiets itself.
This time has been ’Sacred” to me on a spiritual level, and I have had some of my most deep insights here.
It is as though the absence of sound makes God’s whisper even louder, His being more real.
My 6 AM morning is the best time to hear what the Holy Spirit wants you to know.

“Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.” — Proverbs 16:3
Getting up at 6 AM is also a kind of spiritual practice.
The Bible emphasizes discipline as part of a righteous lifestyle.
We do well-reading Proverbs 6:6-8 to ‘go to the ant…,’ who prepares her food in the summer and gathers her sustenance in the harvest.
A strong and resilient faith is rooted in spiritual discipline.
Deciding to get out of bed at 6 AM represents a purposeful decision that my spiritual life is worth more than the satisfaction sleep provides.
It is a discipline to pray and seek God every morning.
Performing such an act of devotion seems like a simple one that God, in his kindness, honors me with as we sit in the stillness together.
Waking up early is a discipline of self-privation to honor my spiritual well-being over and against the demands of the flesh.
This cultivates over time into spiritual strength to handle trials with compassion, and depth of insight.
Waking up early allows me to place God above all of my activities and opens the door for Him into every area and moment in my life so that everything I do can be an act of worship unto Him.
It is about vigilance in prayer
“I will stand at my watch and station myself on the ramparts; I will look to see what he will say to me, and what answer I am to give to this complaint.” — Habakkuk 2:1

In the Bible, watchmen were those who maintained a vigil at night.
To me, waking up at 6 AM was like I was becoming someone different, a spiritual watchman.
Vigilance in the Bible, we are reminded of how vigilant on a spiritual level to be.
Even Jesus commanded his disciples to keep watch and pray so that they would not fall into temptation.
That same call to vigilance is as warranted now as it was then.
This hour is also a time that provides an extraordinary setting for one to engage in some soul searching.
In the stillness of a world lying silent, I can see my life and choices as they really are in spiritual terms.
However, I spend a lot of my time bringing my troubles and worries to the Lord. Mornings are a time of spiritual evaluation.
It is about the prophetic morning
“Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” — Jeremiah 33:3
The early dawn is a time for God to speak His will and impart prophetic insight.
Getting up at 6 AM, for me, feels like plugging into this biblical example energy.
God, in His word, speaks to the early risers.
I see throughout the scriptures that He spoke most often to his prophets and appointees in their earliest hours.
It seems that in the morning, it is easier for His voice to be heard.
Like many of us searching to discover our purpose in life, early morning can prove to be a time when God speaks.
It is a time to request wisdom from God and follow His direction for the day and anything He has in store.
I have realized that discovering God in the morning results in to purpose reveal.
It is about faith
“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” — Psalm 118:24
I remember that each morning when I get past the stiffness as my body awakens with the dawn — God renews his covenant.
One of the most powerful ways they symbolize this renewal is by waking up at 6 AM, an affirmation of God’s faithfulness.
Every day is a blessing; it is the gift of God to walk in his will and be showered by his blessings each morning.
Waking up at 6 AM is my way of honoring this daily refresh for me.
It is a time to thank Him for the new day he gives me.
It is about early-rising
“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength…” — Isaiah 40:31
Getting up at 6 AM is a spiritual practice for me. Like physical exercise works to build up your body, spiritual discipline builds the strength of the soul.
Getting up early takes determination and endurance.
Our spiritual journey requires endurance, as the Bible tells us.
Isaiah 40:31 says that they who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. I find this renewal at my kitchen sink, listening to the birds sing sweet songs early in the morning.
Waking up at 6 AM is the way to wait on the Lord seeking your strength so you can make sure his voice goes first in everything.
The impact this has had on my spiritual resilience is profound.
It is about peace
“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10
One of the best parts about waking up at 6 AM is being alone.
Few ever take the time to observe that early morning stillness.
It is a time when I can just escape the busyness of life and have quality alone time with God.
In the Bible, we hear many accounts of solitude in spiritual life.
Even Jesus Himself would slip away early in the morning to be alone with His Father, finding solace in prayer.
As part of my spiritual journey, solitude has become an important practice.
At 6 AM, I get to be invited into that solitude. It is a solitude to be with God, myself and the deeper truths of life.
It is about gratitude
“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:18
6 AM is a special time in which I am able to grow my heart of thankfulness.
The Bible talks about how important thankfulness is in our spiritual life. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 commands us to give thanks in everything.
