What Does The Bible Say About Aliens?

What does the Bible say about aliens?

Aliens and their existence is a topic that has been discussed previously.

Many theories, movies, and other works of fiction have depicted them in different forms.

They are mostly believed to live outside the Earth or in space and possess some forms of supernatural abilities and sophisticated technologies beyond what we have created here on Earth.

Just as with many other events and phenomena, many people refer to the Bible as a book of authority to draw conclusions on debates on various topics. However, the Bible is silent concerning aliens and their activities.

Although the Bible acknowledges extraterrestrial beings and activities, there is no record of aliens in the Bible. But what can we learn about the possibilities of their existence?

Keep reading to discover.

The creation story and aliens.aliens in the bible

The Book of Genesis discusses the creation story. It states how God created the heavens, the Earth, and every living creature.

The most breathtaking creation of God was man because he was created in God’s image and likeness.

Although the Bible gives a detailed depiction of all that was created from the first to the sixth day of creation, we cannot limit what was created to what is mentioned in the Bible.

The Bible obviously did not mention the many living creatures God created.

If it did, it would be a huge book that would take years to read.

We cannot limit God’s creation to the living creatures on Earth. aliens in bible

Since God created all things, including visible and invisible things or beings, then there might be other creation that exists beyond this physical realm.

“For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.” (Colossians 1:16).

They might not be called aliens, but their existence cannot be denied.

Everyone knows that certain beings exist outside this space. Even though we have little or no evidence of their lives. But their existence cannot be denied.

Therefore, the Bible did not mention that God created aliens. However, the creation story confirms that God created the heavens and the Earth.

The heavens are in layers, including planets, realms of spirits, and places where God and angels reside.

Are extraterrestrial beings aliens?does the bible talk about aliens

Science says no extraterrestrial life has been conclusively detected, but the Bible states the contrary.

The Bible confirms the existence of angels and demons. According to Ephesians 6:12, principalities, powers, rulers, and hosts live in heavenly places.

These are extraterrestrial beings that we cannot see with our naked eyes, yet they exist. They are demons that operate in dark places not accessible to man but hidden in shadows.

Hebrews 12:22 says, “But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels.”

Just as demons exist, angels also exist. In fact, angels exist before demons.

Demons are corrupted angels who sinned against God alongside Lucifer by rebelling against God.

They battled with God’s angels, were defeated, and cast down from heaven.

Demons and angels are not visible to everyone.

Although some people see them in dreams, trances, visions, etc., they rarely reveal themselves. But those that make them aliens?

Aliens are not what they are because of their rarity.what does god say about aliens

No one has evidence of encountering them. However, the Bible is filled with angelic encounters. For example, the Virgin Mary, Apostle Peter, Jacob, Abraham, Lot, and his family all saw angels.

Based on the biblical description, these angels had human forms.

The Bible says the angels that went to rescue Lot and his family from Sodom and Gomorrah held them by their hands and took them out of the city.

These angels spoke in the language that people of old understood.

For example, the Virgin Mary could converse meaningfully with Angel Gabriel. Gideon also spoke with an angel. In fact, he never knew he was talking with an angel until later.

Although the Bible is silent about how demons look, we can deduce that since they were fallen angels, they could have the same physical appearance as God’s angels even though there would be striking differences between them.bible and aliens

The demons that possessed the Madman of Gadara spoke to Jesus. “Jesus asked him, saying, “What is your name?” And he said, “Legion,” because many demons had entered him. And they begged Him that He would not command them to go out into the abyss.” (Luke 8:30-31).

All these mean that extraterrestrial beings, angels or demons, have similar features to humans or are not significantly different.

However, aliens are depicted in art and movies as creatures with large heads, green skins, and odd shapes and sizes.

They do not share any similarities with any biblical creature, but that does not invalidate their existence.

The Bible does not mention many animals in existence today.

Was there a record of interplanetary travel in the Bible?does the bible mention aliens

When spacecraft or missions leave one solar system celestial body (such as a planet or moon) and arrive at another, this is called interplanetary travel.

Extending spacecraft beyond Earth’s orbit allows them to discover and study asteroids, comets, moons, and planets.

There is no record of space technology used for interplanetary travel in the Bible or of aliens using such technology. However, travels from one realm to the other happened in the Bible. One common one was Elijah’s ascension to heaven.

The Bible says he was walking with Elisha when a chariot of fire, powered by a whirlwind, appeared and took Elijah to heaven (2 Kings 2:11). Elijah was taken to another realm outside this Earth.

This is a typical example of interplanetary travel.

But there is no record of aliens or creatures visiting Earth from heaven or another planet.are aliens in the bible

The Bible talks about the sons of God or fallen angels who came to Earth, took for themselves wives or daughters of men, and had children with them (Genesis 6:4).

Angels are famously depicted as winged creatures.

The fallen angels lived in heaven with God until they rebelled and were banished to the Earth. How long their journey took needed to be explained. But we know that they came from another realm.

Other non-biblical accounts of these fallen angels, like the Book of Enoch, portrayed them as creatures out of this world with supernatural powers and wisdom.

They were believed to teach humans how to manipulate metals to make spears and other weapons.

They also taught men ancient magic and how to use plants and herbs to heal.

All these are what aliens are believed to be capable of. However, fallen angels or demons fit into this description. Therefore, can we conclude that aliens are the fallen angels? does the bible say anything about aliens

What should Christians do?

There obviously seems to be an obsession with aliens fueled by humans’ curious nature and love for extraterrestrial events and creatures. However, being overly interested in something other than God is idol worship, according to the Bible.

God wants every believer to focus on Him alone.

This does not mean God is an attention freak or an insecure God. He only understands how the human mind works.

How it can be easily swayed away by things that do not matter. That is why the Bible warns against the uncontrollable pursuit of money (1 Timothy 6:10).

God warns us in His Word about being overly concerned about celestial bodies.

Deuteronomy 17:3 says, “Who has gone and served other gods and worshiped them, either the sun or moon or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded.” We must learn when interest leads to obsession and obsession devotion.

The mind can be easily influenced. Therefore, we should not occupy it with questions and theories about aliens.

If God wanted us to know about them, He would have revealed them to us long ago. However, certain things should be left the way they are because they add no spiritual value to our lives.are aliens mentioned in the bible

Instead, we should focus on things that will lead to our spiritual growth, like Bible study, prayers, etc.

Philippians 4:8 says, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” Debates about unconfirmed truths like the existence of aliens can become distractions from crucial truths written in the Bible, like the salvation of our souls and the existence of heaven and earth. We should focus more on these things and other spiritual principles.
