The Bible records that Jesus died at the ninth hour, which signified the completion of His assignment to be a sacrificial lamb for the sin of the world and reconcile man back to God (Matthew 27:46)

“About the ninth hour of the day he saw clearly in a vision an angel of God coming in and saying to him, “Cornelius!”” (Acts 10:3)

Acts 10:1-48 gives the account of Cornelius, a centurion of the Italian Regiment, who was just and feared God. However, he was a Gentile and not a Jew, so he had not been converted to Christianity.

So, the angel of God appeared to him in a vision on the ninth hour and instructed him to send for Peter, who would help him through the process of conversion, making him the first Gentile to become born again.

Although his conversion story is significant, what is also crucial is the time the angel appeared to him – the ninth hour.

Jesus Christ told a parable about leaving the 99 sheep to go after one

“What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine and go to the mountains to seek the one that is straying?” (Matthew 18:12)

These are virtues that we all long to have to be better parents, children, friends, business owners, and employees. Truthfully, we might have some of these virtues, but in most cases, we lack some. 

The number 9 symbolizes a call to self-introspection to determine one’s strengths and weaknesses in the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit. You might have some of these virtues and not have some.

For example, Moses struggled with anger and lack of self-control, which was why he broke the first stone tablets on which the Ten Commandments were inscribed (Exodus 32:19).

On the other hand, the Apostle Peter was not devoted or faithful to Jesus enough, which is why he denied Jesus three times when he was confronted (Matthew 26:69–75).

In Moses’ case, he accepted his weakness, worked on it, and before we knew it, the Bible describes Moses as the most humble man on earth (Numbers 12:3).

Peter became one of the key leaders of the early church.

Therefore, seeing the number 9 is a reminder to learn sacrifice as a leader. You must be willing to go the extra mile to ensure that your student or follower is fully trained. You must also show up for anyone under you when stranded and facing any challenge. 

Seeing the number 9 also signifies the need to submit to discipleship and mentorship to increase your chances of growing your spiritual life and succeeding in other areas.

Dedication to prayer

The number 9 signifies the sweet hour of prayer.

Seeing it indicates that you must take your spiritual growth seriously as a believer.

Prayers play different roles in a Christian’s life. It enhances intimacy between you and God.

It’s an avenue to worship and glorify God. It offers you the platform to ask and receive from God.

It helps you discover truths, answers, and secrets. The list is endless. 

Ignoring prayer simply means you are signing up for powerlessness and spiritual failure because prayer is a weapon of spiritual warfare and an advantage you have above an average person.

Therefore, you must begin and start everything with prayer, including your day, projects, relationships, career, or business. 

And suppose you used to pray and you see the number 9. In that case, you should intensify your prayer habit and increase your prayer life because a new spiritual dimension you have never experienced is about to open up to you, leading to fresh anointing, power, ideas, and innovation.

Hour of Salvation

The number 9 also symbolizes the hour of prayer. God’s angel appeared to Cornelius at the ninth hour to send for Peter, who came, preached, and led him and his household to Christ. 

What does it mean when you see the number 9.

It means it’s time to evangelize.

It is time to reach out to lost souls because God is ready to save them.

Matthew 9:37 says, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.” 

We are all laborers in God’s vineyard. We must be ready to fulfill God’s plan of salvation by preaching the gospel, baptizing those who accept Christ, and taking them through discipleship. 

Matthew 9:9, Jesus went to Matthew, the Tax Collector, and converted him to become his disciple.

Tax Collectors were regarded as one of the worst sinners in the past because they took from the poor and embezzled. However, Jesus extended salvation to them.

Therefore, we must take the Good News to them irrespective of how a person or group is labeled by society.
